Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (also known as BJJ) was developed in Brazil in the early 1900's. Originally taught by the Japanese Judo champion Mitsuyo Maeda to the sons of Gastao Gracie in gratitude for Gastao's immigration assistance, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has evolved to become the world's pre-eminent ground fighting art.

Jiu-Jitsu sport techniques include takedowns, escapes, submissions, strangles, chokes, arm locks, leg locks, and much more.

Self-Defense

Besides the techniques used for sport, Jiu-Jitsu offer excellent self-defense applications.
