A Reality Based Martial Art

Judo (the efficient way) is a reality based martial art. Because most Judo techniques are not designed to maim or kill, they can be practiced as they are really used: full speed, full strength and full contact against live partners. This reality based training, although not intended to be deadly, provides a more effective environment to prepare for combat on both the mat and on the street.

The Most Widely Practiced Martial Art

Judo is the most widely practiced martial art in the world and the second most popular sport in the world (after soccer) in terms of number of participants. An Olympic sport since 1964, more than a hundred countries participate in Judo on an international level.

A Complete Martial Art

Judo is a complete martial art, with the most balance of any grappling based system. It includes standing throws, strangles, and holds, as well as ground fighting techniques including chokes, joint locks, and pins. Although many people claim that most fights end up on the ground, Judo prepares you for all eventualities. If you know how to throw and counter throws, it is much less likely that you will be taken down, but if you do, you will be prepared.
