Judo Instructor - 5th dan Judo
Dr. Zbigniew Piec, started training in Judo at the age of 10 in Poland. Over the last 37 years of studying with some of the most respected teachers in the World, he has acquired a deep knowledge of Judo. During his career in Europe, he competed extensively on an international level. He received his 1st dan in 1983, and in 1986 was certified by the Polish Society of Physical Culture as a Judo instructor.
After moving to the U.S. in 1988, he taught Judo at MIT and Northeastern University while studying for his PhD in Engineering. After completing his doctorate, he lived in Japan for 6 years where he trained at the Kodokan and Tsukuba University. During his stay in Japan, he also competed actively, winning numerous tournaments.
After his return from Japan, he taught for 3 years as the head Judo instructor for the Shodokan Judo club in Salem Mass. Dr. Piec moved to San Diego 4 years ago and since his arrival, he has been promoting Judo among the San Diego community and working closely with 7th dan Iizumi Sensei. He believes that if the fundamentals of Judo are correctly understood, then performing the many techniques of Judo will be easy.
